Polio Eradication

The Polio Eradication program is “this close” to eliminating this crippling disease.  This public health effort to eliminate all cases of  polio infection around the world began in 1988 and led by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and the Rotary Foundation, has reduced the number of annual diagnosed cases from the hundreds of thousands to 291 Polio Cases in 2012—a 99.9% reduction.  Recent resurgence of Polio means our work is not complete.
